.: WIP : Wedding-In-Progress :.

As far as the progress of the wedding planning goes, I have:

1) Confirmed the wedding date – well it is set to be on the first of January twenty-eleven (1/1/11). So guys, please mark down your calendar this very special date! Don’t worry for those forgetful/lazy ones out there; I am planning to send out a virtual Save The Date invitation in a few weeks time.

2) Confirmed the church – tho the pastor does not object, our booking needs to go thru the approval of the PCC council. As for now, it’s virtually certain, unless there’s strong objection from the council members. *keep fingers crossed*

3) Confirmed and paid deposit for dinner venue – after physically going to five restaurants and enquiry to another two restaurants (all well within the week before last), we have settled with a restaurant located in PJ. Place is relatively new, and it looks ok, with an almost-hotel-like ambience. Feedback on food served by this chain of restaurants have been good so far, let’s just pray that they keep up to that standards till next year (after that, I don’t really care *evil laugh*). Also a note of thank to an ex-auditor of my ex-company, whom I have still kept in touch. His dad is an acquaintance of the owner of this restaurant chain, so as a favour, he will throw in a few lil extras FOC. Thanks YHuat! :)

4) Pre-marital course – we have picked Ps Peter Wong & wife (Aunty Susan) to be our marriage counselor. It is gonna be a 10 chapter course, covering aspects such as spiritual journey in marriage, financial planning, family planning (think we shall give this a skip since we are not planning to have kids anyways), etc.

On another note, I have been doing a bit of research online, and note to all brides-to-be, it is NEVER too early to plan for all this. Based on experience of those who have joined the got-married bandwagon, a critical point in wedding preparation is that you need to do your research, research and research. So for the next stage of the wedding preparation I need to:

1) Think of a theme – I have no idea where do I even start on this, but hope I would have a rough idea once I flip thru bridal magazines flown in with love all the way from Melbourne. Special thanks to Dinah for the magazines and Ah Ser for being the postgirl! *big huggies*

2) Pre-wedding photoshoots – given that there are easily 20 – 30 shops located in SS2 & Loke Yew itself, we are definitely spoilt for choice. But it is now a matter of choosing something that is VFM (Value For Money) and at the same time, of good service. Heard many horror stories from forums about how bad or conniving some bridal photography shops can be *shivers*. Also, looking out for the coming bridal fair, but by that time, hopefully we have something/someplace in mind and go there just to do the bargaining! Put our bargaining skills to the test :)

3) Wedding bands – again, looking for something that is VFM. Initial plan is to look for it at the Jewelry Fair in KLCC (they have it bi-annually if I am not mistaken). Hopefully can get something there for a bargain price. If not, any jewelry shop that is having mega sales or something should suffice I suppose! :)

4) Misc – As you might be aware, I am not a highly creative person, so I would really appreciate it that if you guys come across any interesting ideas or website, please feel free to contribute. Also, I am currently compiling a list of songs and am lookin for a perfect wedding march song. Again, please contribute ideas. Don’t be like my cousins who have suggested I play “Please Release Me”, “I Don’t Love You Like I Love You Yesterday”, “Darth Vader Theme Song”, etc. So totally NOT helping! :)

.: And Here I Am :.

Been on a physical and emotional roller coaster the past weeks, and I reckon it will be worse for the next months to come.
Work has taken a toll on my already-lacking-energetic self.

Weekends are dedicated to running urgent errands, forsaking the important-but-not-that-urgent task – like cleaning up my sty I mean room. The spring cleaning is way overdue-ed and I think it would be a major overhaul to clean the mess (mess is an understatement) it is in now.

This weekend, I will be off to Gua Musang for a mission trip by my church. I am in charge of Children Sunday School for at least three kampongs there. Tho I have been teaching Sunday School for the last three years (wow, it has been that long hasn’t it?), this mission trip is gonna be a new challenge altogether. Firstly, as compared to a normal class of six to twelve students ranging from 3- 5 years old here in SLS Church, it will be a class of fifty students per kampong there in Gua Musang. Fifty! Secondly, the language barrier. Tho I must say that I still can converse in Bahasa Malaysia, there are times where I have to pause for a moment to gather the right words. So *scrubs*scrubs* my Bahasa Malaysia needs a lil bit of brushing up now.

Wedding preparation – well I shall leave it for the next post! :)

Tho I have been runnin about doin all the wedding preparation and stuff, there’s been a couple of emo moments and I am seriously getting cold feet. I know that it’s normal for the bride-to-be to get all jittery and stuff, but I never knew it happens at such an early stage. Looks like JC have to bear with my emo-ness for the next 11 months. Unless, of course, he decides to pull the plug himself! :)

Well, as for now, workload is winding down. Critical points of the wedding preparation have been addressed. I guess I just need to chillax a bit for now. Perhaps a break to Melbourne next month? *wink*

.: One Day Trip To Bukit Tinggi :.

My mini bloggin hiatus comes to an end today as I have churned out all the relevant internal and external reports in the most inhumane deadline.

It has indeed been a energy-draining working weekday week for me and even at that, I was not spared for the weekend.

Nonetheless, I had a great time with my cousins at Bukit Tinggi (which is where Tammie, Kevin & Rachel are currently residing). Tho we anticipated a more cooling environment (hence the plan to have steamboat for dinner), it was as hot, if not hotter, than it is in KL.

We headed out to Bukit Tinggi in the wee hours of the morning. Fine. it was about 9.30am when we left, but it was a bit too early for me (as explained earlier, I had a really exhausting weekday at work).

We dropped our stuff and headed straight to Bentong, which is like 30 minutes drive from Bukit Tinggi.

We had the famous beef noodles *yummies* but for RM4.80 a bowl (as expensive as it is in KL).

Ngau Lam mee

We then head on to have dessert in a infamous ice-cream shop - Kedai Kopi Kow Po.

The shop serves an array of ice cream flavours – including chocolate, pandan, vanilla, banana, peanut, coffee, strawberry, coconut and durian (too bad they didn’t have durian at the time I was there, but hey, there’s always a next time right? *wink*) We all collectively agreed that the best flavors is chocolate & banana. I heart my peanut ice cream as well. What we all love bout the ice cream is that it is not very sweet (like the ones in BR or HD) but it is absolutely rich in flavor. It cost RM2 per scoop and if you go for that with the ice-kacang condiments, it goes for RM3 per serving.

Chocolate & Pandan ice cream

On the way back via the trunk road, we stopped by a rather disappointing Hot Spring. The water ain’t exactly hot (but at least the place was clean) and it lack that sulphury-smelling-hot-spring-smell. Well, at least the flowers look decent enough for a few shoots.

Allamanda cathartica L.

Ixora coccinea

And nearby, a bridge (more snappin away picture moments *wink*)

For the more rustic feel

Two is better than one

We then headed to Tam’s crib, the guys camwhored a while, while waitin for Tam's parents to get back.

I may look macho, but I secretly love flower accessories

It's not a wonder that these two are still single!

Three people in this picture, spot them :)

At home, we took forty winks, woke up and headed on to a nearby stream.

Itsy bitsy spider

On the rocks

After playing around in the stream, we headed back home, washed up and prepared dinner – steamboat. Kevin invited his friend, Elliot over (yeah, I’m shocked too, Kevin actually have friends). Was glad to know that the food was just enough for everyone, with only lil bit leftovers. Had a great time of laughing and singing and all.

Looking forward to this coming Chinese New Year with ‘em :)

.: Private Emotion :.

Private Emotion : Ricky Martin & Meja

Every endless night has a dawning day
Every darkest sky has a shining ray
And it shines on you baby can't you see
You're the only one who can shine for me

It's a private emotion that fills you tonight
And a silence falls between us
As the shadows steal the light
And wherever you may find it
Wherever it may lead
Let your private emotion come to me
Come to me

When your soul is tired and your heart is weak
Do you think of love as one way street
Well it runs both ways, open up your eyes
Can't you see me here, how can you deny

It's a private emotion that fills you tonight
And a silence falls between us
As the shadows steal the light
And wherever you may find it
Wherever it may lead
Let your private emotion come to me
Come to me

Every endless night has a dawning day
Every darkest sky has a shining ray
It takes a lot to laugh as your tears go by
But you can find me here till your tears run dry

It's a private emotion that fills you tonight
And a silence falls between us
As the shadows steal the light
And wherever you may find it
Wherever it may lead
Let your private emotion come to me

.: On Screen Off Screen Killer :.

How one can die from being overly excited.....
Mind-blowing (literally).

A 42-year-old Taiwanese man with a history of high blood pressure has died of a stroke likely triggered by over-excitement from watching the blockbuster "Avatar" in 3D, a doctor said Tuesday.

The man, identified only by his surname Kuo, started to feel unwell during the screening earlier this month in the northern city of Hsinchu and was taken to hospital.

Kuo, who suffered from hypertension, was unconscious when he arrived at the Nan Men General Hospital and a scan showed that his brain was haemorrhaging, emergency room doctor Peng Chin-chih said.

"It's likely that the over-excitement from watching the movie triggered his symptoms," he told AFP.

Kuo died 11 days later from the brain haemorrhage, and the China Times newspaper said it was the first death linked to watching James Cameron's science-fiction epic "Avatar".

Film blogging sites have reported complaints of headaches, dizziness, nausea and blurry eyesight from viewers of "Avatar" and other movies rich in 3D imagery.

.: Rewards In Full :.

So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.

.: Colbie's Fallen For You :.

Colbie Caillat : Fallen For You

I don’t know but
I think I maybe
Fallin’ for you
Dropping so quickly
Maybe I should
Keep this to myself
Waiting ’til I
Know you better

I am trying
Not to tell you
But I want to
I’m scared of what you’ll say
So I’m hiding what I’m feeling
But I’m tired of
Holding this inside my head

I’ve been spending all my time
Just thinking about you
I don’t know where to
I think I’m fallin’ for you
I’ve been waiting all my life
And now I found you
I don’t know where to
I think I’m fallin’ for you
I’m fallin’ for you

As I’m standing here
And you hold my hand
Pull me towards you
And we start to dance
All around us
I see nobody
Here in silence
It’s just you and me

I’m trying
Not to tell you
But I want to
I’m scared of what you’ll say
So I’m hiding what I’m feeling
But I’m tired of
Holding this inside my head

I’ve been spending all my time
Just thinking about you
I don’t know where to
I think I’m fallin’ for you
I’ve been waiting all my life
and now I found you
I don’t know where to
I think I’m fallin’ for you
I’m fallin’ for you

Oh I just can’t take it
My heart is racing
The emotions keep spinning out

I’ve been spending all my time
Just thinking about ya
I don’t know where to
I think I’m fallin’ for you

I’ve been waiting all my life
and now I found ya
I don’t know where to
I think I’m fallin’ for you
I’m fallin’ for you
I think I’m fallin’ for you

I can’t stop thinking about it
I want you all around me
And now I just can’t hide it
I think I’m fallin’ for you (x2)

I’m fallin’ for you

Oh no no
Oh I’m fallin’ for you

.: My Valentine's Day :.

I never did have a ‘real’ valentines day celebration. As much as I like to say that the underlying reason for this is because EVERYDAY is valentines day, you guys would know I am lying.

Yes, truth to be told – I don’t wanna be spending (or actually my date spending) money on overprized food, overpriced teddys/flowers/etc. That’s just me being practical.

Valentine's day celebration for me will usually be a quiet affair; home-cooked dinner, followed by watchin DVD video later.

It has always been a quiet, just-two-of-us-celebration.

Anyways, for this year's Valentines, Nuffnang have given a chance for us to spend a day with ANY star of our pick from the cast of Valantine’s Day.

ANY one at all! Can you feel my excitement?!

If I had my pick, it would have to be Taylor Lautner.

Yes, I need not be reminded I am engaged. So let this be an engagement present to spend time with another man other than my man. *laughs* I’m cruel. So be it.

Why Taylor Lautner?

Well, isn’t it obvious?

Well, its because of this…

And this…

And this…

And how am I gonna spend the whole day with him?

Well, how bout a romantic candlelight dinner for two under the stars. With champane and romantic music playing at the background. He will get me (I will make sure of it) roses and chocolates and teddies. And we will hereon live happily ever after.....
*dreamy eyes*

Ok Nuffnang, if I don’t get to spend Valentines day with Taylor Lautner, can I at least win two tickets to watch Valentine’s Day premier in Hollywood? Pls? :)

P/s : Ok, I must confess, I have lied.

Firstly, there is NO chance of me spending any time whatsoever with any of the movie stars. This entry is just for winning two tickets to watch Valentine’s Day, not in Hollywood, but in Cathay Cineleisure (that’s my second lie). And my third lie is that I rather spend time with my man than any other man, and you know that don’t you JC? *wink*

.: A Kiss Is Not Just A Kiss :.

I was sitting down together with the Sunday School kids during a combined class when lil Kevin Lim (5 years old), who was sitting at my side and leaning on me, just hoist himself up and gave me an absolutely random peck on the cheek. nice it is to receive unexpected lil surprises :)

Updated : I told this to JC last night, and he said he wanna whack up lil Kevin coz nobody is allowed to kiss me. Lol! Sometimes JC can be so funny :)

.: Forgetful Ben :.

This morning, I was rudely awakened from my deep slumber by the sounds of my brother and mom bickering.

With one both eyes squint shut and two pillows sandwiched between my head, I could still hear the muffled sounds of their voices.

Well, apparently my brother misplaced his wallet and could not find it – and he accused my mom of shifting it from the usual place he puts his wallet.

Hunting high and low, with the switch to his bedroom light clicked on and off like three times in that fifteen minutes period.

Then, the bickering stopped. And my brother went to work.

As I got myself ready and came down, my mom said to me “Guess where your brother found his wallet?”

And she replied before I got a chance to respond “In his pants pocket. It was in his pocket all the while. He woke up this morning, put on his pants, put the wallet in his pants and forgot all about it.”

That is my not-so-smart brother for you.

.: The Wedding Plan Begins :.

Continuation from previous post

As much as I am having a mild anxiety attack over the wedding, I think I pretty much come to terms with the fact. Yes, I have partially (note the word partially, as I believe that there are plenty of the similar attack to take place in the near future) accept the fact that I am already ENGAGED with my almost four-years boyfriend fiancée and soon to settle down and change the surname I have carried for twenty-four years, and I can’t cringe when people call me Mrs - omgosh, I am gonna be a Mrs? *panic attack strikes again*

Ok, don’t panic, *breaths in, breaths out, breaths in, breaths out* (repeats 100x)

Ok….. I think I really need to start on the wedding plans just about now. I have a skeletal structured plan in my new 2010 diary and here are a few things I need to do to get started, in order of priority....

Ok, so my bf fiancée and I would like (and prayfully could get) *drumrolls* 1/1/11 to be our wedding date – which is most likely the registration date & the ceremony date. Accordingly, it is gonna be held on the 11th month of the Chinese calander, and tho as Christians, it doesn't really  matter to us, it plays a role for my more traditional parents. They have consulted a relative and she said that Chinese usually prefers to have wedding on an even date. But, to reassure my parents, I googled a couple of website, and two different website has mentioned that 1/1/11 is an auspicious date to get hitch. So, with that small level of comfort, my parents agrees (or so I hope their slight grunt means a yes?). Of course, we have to make sure that we can get a church (refer to point TWO) and a hotel/restaurant (refer to point THREE) on this date.

We are, one of these weekends, gonna have a look at a few shortlisted church, with one church (I shall not reveal now) on the top of our list. Once we lock in the church for the said date, our wedding dates would more or less be confirmed as well.

Well, as Chinese, one is not married in their eyes until there is a banquet to celebrate this occasion. As much as I like to have a simple dinner (of say 5 tables?), JC is most likely right to point out that my parents (and I believe his dad as well) would not be happy over such arrangement. So, for our parents sake (this is one of the few things I am willing to ‘give in’ to the wedding arrangement) we are gonna have a more elaborate wedding dinner. Venue, yet to be decided. But I am gonna let my dad take charge of this as JC & I have no particular preference AND my dad was an organizing committee Chairman for his workplace annual dinner a couple of times, so he should be more hands-on on this matter.

Ok, so with these three important points settled, then JC & I shall proceed to the next level of things.

For now, do uphold us in prayer as we make plans and decisions to our wedding.

.: Taking The Plunge :.

This is an emo post.

Skip this post if you’re here for the sunny-side of Kathlynn’s life.

I’ve been thinking alot about marriage life and all. In fact, talked to a few friends and colleagues who are married and what do they think it. And with that, at least I know I am TAKING THE PLUNGE with both eyes wide open.

Yeah, from the way I am describing it; it doesn’t seem like I have very positive views of marriage aren’t I? Truth to be told, I never look at married life equating to happily ever after. As hard as it is to maintain a relationship during courtship, I personally believe that it takes double the effort to maintain a marriage.

I believe I am not the only one struggling to be patience with her other half’s idiosyncrasies. I would say that he is too tolerating with mine. It’s not always about having the same thoughts, the same taste, the same values, etc that makes two a perfect couple.

I guess we have both agree that although we are both similar in many ways, we are complimentarily different in others. Of course, in an ideal situation, we both give and take to meet somewhere in the middle. But it’s often difficult to draw the fine line right in the middle isn’t it?

Honestly, I am beginning to have second/third/fourth/billionth doubt on whether I wanna commit and spend the rest of my life with ONE person. Of course, divorce is an option, but let’s not further complicate my already complicated-enough-for-my-liking life.

I was never really the kinda girl that dreams of her wedding day all her life. Or the girl that wants to be married, stay at home and take care of the kids. Heck, I don’t even wanna have kids and this is still my decision until today (and this, I am NOT joking).

I don’t know, after asking around married couples on how do they know that each other is THE ONE and when is the right time to settle down, they all conclude the same.

You’ll never know and there’s never a perfect, right time.

It is about make a firm decision to take a walk down the path of uncertainties, with each other.

I am already getting cold feet.

Do I really wanna do it?

.: Paranormal Activity :.

I went to watch the premier of this movie with the brother last night at GSC Tropicana Mall.

I was down with cough and cold, so I bundled myself in a really big jacket - the ones that looks like I am going on an expedition to the North Pole.

During the movie, I was trying to refrain myself from coughing especially some scenes where you KNOW something is gonna happen. And when those scenes end, and you hear someone letting go a string of coughs, I am guilty as charged *shy smile*

Anyhows, there wasn’t such a big hype of this movie – as compared to blockbuster cinema hits like Avatar or Sherlock Holmes, movies that were premiering just weeks before. Afterall, this movie is an independent horror film that is written and directed by the same person Oren Peli.

According to Wikipedia (the I-Ching of whatever you ought to know), this movie was actually premiered at the Screamfest Film Festival in USA back in October 2007. The absolutely low budget movie (well how much cost could one expect from a movie cast of 4 actor/actresses?) of $15,000 manages to rake in earnings of $100million. That’s like a whooping 666,666% returns on investment! Unbelievable!

As far as the one-and-the-half hour movie plot goes, it is actually quite flat, not much surprises or extremely scary scenes. But there are a few scenes that I could hear girls screaming from the back of the cinema. Could that be Benjicajess? Coz I saw her walking in and sitting at the place where the screaming sounds came from *wink*

And did you know, that there are actually three different endings to this movie? And that ending to the movie we saw last night has a different ending to that showed in Screamfest and Burbank screening.

Anyways, as scary as this movie may be to some, it’s nothing compared to the fact that I have to consolidated a public-listed company results at a tight deadline so that it can be announced on time to Bursa Malaysia. Which means, come in to work early, work throughout lunch, and only get to go back really, really late! *screams* How's that for horror?

.: Diet Today :.

I put on my pants this morning and realize that it’s getting a lil snug.

Two possibilities:

One – my pants shrunk (a reason I would love to believe so)
Two – I am getting FAT-er (a reason I know so)

Looks like I really have to start dieting TODAY!

.: Goodbye To You :.

I can’t believe that it’s already a year now since I met you.

At first, I was reluctant to let you in as I was still clingin on to two-thousand-and-eight. But alas, I had no choice but to embrace the changes that you are gonna bring.

Afterall, the only thing constant in life is change…

We have really spent so much time at the movie didn’t we? Our dear friend, Nuffnang has been absolutely generous in giving out free movie premiers. And of course a couple of more tickets won thru other contest. And it wasn’t all about movies was it? Remember all the books I have read in your company? Yes, the Jodi Picoult’s, the Nicholas Sparks’, the Nora Roberts’? How I do enjoy spending my lazy weekends reading with you.

And two-thousand-and-nine, although it isn’t very much the year of traveling, it was with you that I first flew a thousand miles away from home to UK. I really enjoyed my trip in London, Edinburgh & Stradclyde very much. And of course there was the Church Camp in Kampar (my first time there) & also a short trip to Cameron a couple of months back.

Dear two-thousand-and-nine

The whole drama on my career was indeed very nerve-wrecking for me. It has been a roller coaster ride where I was presented with way too many choices, but in the end, I strongly believe that this is the right choice I have made in terms of my career progression. Even to this day, I am still getting offers after offers, but for now, I am gonna settle down with this choice I’ve made.

Two-thousand-and-nine, as much as the moolah was flowing in, it flowed out just the same. It was with you that I realize that I have achieved the minimum level of cash I need as a buffer, hence, it was time that I took some calculated risk into other investment. I tried investing a small amount into Threadbarn, an online blogshop. On top of that, I bought myself a medium cost apartment. And then, on top of that, JC and I bought a Nikon DSLR D5000 kit. Phew, that’s quite a heavy outflow for me. Not to take into account my lil lil shopping expenditures (note the lil lil) *wink*

Two-thousand-and-nine, as introvert as I am, with you, I was given a chance to give a talk on stage in Sunway College and an opportunity to play the piano for Sunday School Christmas recital. As nervous as I was, I am glad that I manage to pull thru it. I guess it’s sorta like my very own lil personal achievement for the year. *beaming smile*

Another of my personal achievement is to have tried and tested many recipes with you. There are some that turned out really great – like my oreo cheesecake & scones, but there are some that didn’t – like my peanut butter cookies & chocolate peanut butter marshmallow fudge. But it is really a year of experimenting and trial-and-error in the kitchen for me.

Tho I know that there are lotsa things that have changed, what I do love is that even with you, the family ties never changes. I love that with you, I still can spend time with my dearest cousins and all. The BBQs we have, the gatherings, the singing-out-loud-in-the-car-moments, the sacarstic pokes at each other, the lame jokes shared, oh two-thousand-and-nine, I am so glad I still have those moments

Dear two-thousand-and-nine,

I do hate you for one thing tho, you took away someone so precious and so dear to many of us here. Markus Ng & Mrs Betty Young both fell asleep and woke in the arms of Jesus. It is sad that the world has lost two precious, loving individuals, but its comforting to know that I will meet them in heaven when my time is up.

Well, two-thousand-and-nine, as reluctant as I am to let you go, I know I have to, to give way to two-thousand-and-ten.

But no matter one, the memories we shared will always be treasured and remembered

.: Kevin's Ark :.

It was a rainy day when my cousins and I were travelling down to Kulai, Johor for my Aunty Sau Chan's hometown wedding luncheon.

I mentioned in passing that according to Chinese superstitions, if it rains on your wedding day, it means that the groom is kiamsap (stingy).

Kevin laughed, and added with a smirk "In that case, it would rain forty days and forty nights if you get married to JC."

Well Kevin, JC asked me to advise you to start building your ark now *wink* :)

Anyways, the wedding plans are kinda vague now, I have not have the date - I promise that if I had, you guys would be the first to know (i.e. I will update this blog). As for now, I don't even know where to start!

Anyone wanna be my wedding planner? :)

.: This Lil Piggy Went To Our Tummy :.

We had roast pig for our 2009 Christmas lunch in SLS.
Accompanied Uncle Albert to collect the roast pig at Sungai Buloh early that morning.

.: Tourist In KL Town For A Day :.

Yeterday, my born-and-bred KL friends and myself decided to play tourist and went galavanting in Petaling Street & KL Sentral Market.

Equip with a camera and a standard lie excuse "I am Singaporean" (when we started acting all jakun and people were givin us the stares), we were walking up and down Petaling Street & for the second time in my whole entire 24 years and 28 days growing up in KL, to KL Sentral Market.

Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment.

To Xiao & Fei, thanks babes for an enjoyable afternoon! :)
