Yesterday, JC & I took time off work to settle some miscellaneous stuff for Project Wallaby in the morning.

We dropped by St Mary to drop off some (long overdue) gifts as a token of appreciation to the admin staff (Anthony) and the Dean for their contribution to our wedding. On a sad note, we found out that the father of the bride who shared the wedding on the same day as us (the father had to call us to nego with us coz he assumed that the church was available until the last minute, somewhere in Sept, where he found out that we have already booked it months before), had passed away recently. Tho we only had two short meetings, I couldn’t help but feel sad for his family on new year’s day, they celebrated a happy occasion and then a few months later, of this man’s funeral. But that is life isn’t it? We born, we live, we die.

Anyways, the dealing with the Aus Embassy went smoothly and we then had a catch-up lunch with our Pakistani best man in KLCC food court, followed by a final briefing with the migration agent at Menara Standard Chartered (riding the lift still scared the living daylights out of me!).

We then dropped by at Pavilion to have our Fish Spa (thanks to SuperDeals – we got 50% off). It was a new experience for the both of us. Kinda ticklish and I was squirming like a lil girl (wait – I am a lil girl! Teehee) while two tourists who were sitting nearby were laughing at me!

After the whole spa was over, we dropped by SGChurch to again to pass some gifts to the pastor as well as our marriage counselor.

Since there was time left, we headed on to Sunway Pyramid to catch a movie. And, as usual, JC picked a chick-flick (he just enjoys then, and who am I to object right?) Just Go With It. It was not bad actually, staring Jennifer Aniston & Adam Sandler. Had a lot of laughters (well, its Adam Sandler, what would you expect?) Had Ireland Potatoes (with pickled mayo sauce) before the movie start (lotsa carbs, I know!)

After the movie we went to have our dinner at Teppanyaki (which was delish!) and then went straight home after. Did a lil bit of household chores and went straight to bed after.

I was a long day, but I enjoy spending it with my husband! :)

.: Chocolate Chip Cupcake Recipe :.

Never knew it could be so difficult to get a recipe for chocolate cupcakes. I mean there are aplenty available on the internet, but after glimpsing thru each of them; they just didn’t seem right – either the proportioned looked wrong or the ingredients doesn’t gel.

So I googled “Kuali” and this Chocolate Chip Cupcake recipe by Amy Beh popped out. Reading the ingredients, it sounded pretty much about right, I proceed to match two batch of these (with slight modification of course!). This recipe is definitely a keeper, John’s colleague thought it was (and I quote) “NICEEEEE!!!!!!” and also said I was an “excellent baker”! *blush*

Amy Beh : Chocolate Chip Cupcake recipe (yields 12 regular sized cupcakes!)


o 120g butter (room temperature)
o 120g brown sugar
o 1/8 tsp salt
o 1 tsp chocolate essence
o ½ tsp vanilla essence
o 2 eggs (grade A)
o 145g superfine flour, sifted
o 1½ tsp baking powder, sifted
o 3/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda
o 20g cocoa powder
o 60ml UHT milk
o 100g semi sweet chocolate chips
o ½ tsp cinnamon powder


Preheat oven at 180°C. Cream butter, castor sugar, chocolate and vanilla essences and salt until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. In a small bowl, mix milk and cocoa powder until well blended and smooth. Sift flour, baking powder, cinnamon powder and bicarbonate of soda into creamed mixture. Stir well to mix. Add in cocoa milk mixture into creamed mixture. Add chocolate chips to combine. Place paper cups in a patty tin. Spoon batter into paper cups to 3/4 full. Bake in preheated over for 15-20 minutes or until capcakes are done.

Got this email from my colleagues and it sounded way too dodgy to be real. But who knows right?

Sick leave to be verified by new medical device

If you think you can continue taking sick leave for illegitimate reasons, think again. A new law is mandating the use of a cutting-edge device that can verify whether you were ill or not.

The device will be introduced in phases, starting in August this year. Remarkably resembling an ordinary USB drive, the device, named SickVerify, will eventually substitute the role of doctors as providers of medical certificates.

By August 2012, doctors nationwide will lose the legal authority to issue medical certificates. From then on, all workers will have to submit to a test using SickVerify to substantiate their claims for sick leave.

These steps were taken to finally eliminate the extremely prevalent issuance of 'false' medical certificates obtained by bribing doctors. The illegitimate use of sick leave costs the nation billions of ringgit each year due to lost productivity.

Proudly designed and manufactured in Malaysia, the aforementioned device tests the subject's saliva for the presence of antibodies and cortisol. Antibodies are the result of the body's response to illness and infections. Cortisol, on the other hand, is a hormone released when the body experiences stress or pain.

For example, a flu would result in the production of antibodies, which would remain even after the illness subsides. Stomach cramps - a frequent reason cited in sick leave applications among women - would trigger the release of cortisol. Traces of the hormone would also be present in the body days after.

Using a complex series of algorithms, SickVerify measures the concentration of antibodies and cortisol in the saliva sample to determine whether the subject was ill during the time period claimed for sick leave. The device is reportedly 98.9% accurate.

The test itself is blindingly simple and quick. The subject wets a fingernail-sized piece of cottonwool with his/her saliva. The cottonwool is inserted into the compartment of the device.

SickVerify, which is then plugged into any laptop or desktop via a USB socket. A program provided with SickVerify can then be run to begin the test (which takes approximately 3 minutes) and display the results.

Businesses in some areas of the country will begin receiving the device on August 6th. Private sector entities will have to bear the initial costs of the device, but the payment is fully tax-deductible.

(Oh, I like the tax-deductable bit, sound all so convincing!)

The BBC TV programme Panorama ran a famous hoax in 1957, where Swiss women were shown harvesting strands of spaghetti from trees and laying them in the sun to dry. The narrator explained that a mild winter and elimination of the dreaded spaghetti weevil had farmers hoping for a bumper crop. A large number of people contacted the BBC wanting to know how to cultivate their own spaghetti trees or how they can buy a spaghetti plant for themselves.
